StarFox is such a legendary game. While most people probably have memories of StarFox 64 being their first game, this is the one that started it all. Yeah, the game is infamous for having some slowdown here and there, but you have to keep in mind that this is on the Super Famicom. Yes, the Super FX chip acted as a second cpu to boost the processing power on the cartridge, but there's still going to be slowdown when there are 3D polygons on the admittedly underpowered SFC. That being said, this game is still plenty playable and a technical achievement for the system. The gameplay is challenging enough to kick your ass the first few times, but fun enough to make you want to play more. While your copilots sure have a lot to say, they don't actually talk (rather they utter random gibberish) and it's all text on the bottom of the screen, so it doesn't get annoying. While the gameplay alone makes this an absolute must for Super Famicom/Super Nintendo collectors, what really makes it a legend is the music. Without hesitation, this is game has my absolute favorite soundtrack on the system. While I generally give the Genesis the edge when it comes to chiptunes, this game's soundtrack is pure bliss, and it's a miracle that they managed to give it such depth on a system known for having an overkill of muffle and reverb. If nothing else, listen to this game's soundtrack, as it really is a masterpiece. I really can't recommend this game enough, and while the US version isn't terribly expensive, the Japanese version is a real bargain. For under $20, you really can't go wrong with this one. While all the text is in Japanese, it really doesn't bring down the experience too much. The game's story is very basic, and your teammates don't give you any super helpful advice. Besides, you can easily look up the English version on Youtube if you absolutely must see it.
