I did not know any thing about night optics before my purchase, but as a consumer I expected to see a little better in the dark for 700.00 than what I was able to. It is better than nothing I guess. the image was grainy and could only see about 30 yards and be able to make out what your actually looking at. beyond that you could tell they was something there but what? At 100 yards forget it unless there was some side light shinning to the area. The head set is very comfortable, I really like the hands free capability. I believe I will try gen 2. or stop looking altogether, I cant justify the cost beyond that.
I opened the box, took them out and immediately ran into problems: the attachment to the headset was way too tight and it was impossible to sit them all the way in. This is important because you want them to sit as close to your eyes as possible. After using considerable force, I was able to clip them halfway on....and then it stuck. I didn't even bother buying batteries before sending them back.
