ディスコ・パンクの大王、ニューヨークのミュージシャン/プロデューサーのジェイムズ・マーフィーについてさまざまな話があったが、彼のダンス・プロジェクト、LCDサウンドシステムのデビュー・アルバムを2005年まで待たされるとは思いもしなかった。LCDの古典とも言える初期シングル3作「Losing My Edge」「Give It Up」「Yeah」はパンク・ロック、ディスコ、ファンクの世界で同時に、80年代初期のニューヨーク以来のような歓迎を受けたが、こうした曲はバンドの新しい影響力、そして時にはあからさまな方法で作り替えられた新しい素材としてボーナス・ディスクに収録されている。

たとえば、「Movement」はザ・フォールへのオマージュで、マーフィーはアナログなシンセに負けじと“太った奴/Tシャツを着た/歌うことしかできない！”と叫び、静かで重厚な「Great Release」は『Taking Tiger Mountain』時代のブライアン・イーノへの挨拶のようである。しかし、音楽に精通した彼にとって、実地の音楽作りでめったに緊張して見えない点は、マーフィーの強みのひとつだ。そうやって風変わりなディスコ・パンクのナンバーを書いて、「Daft Punk Is Playing at My House」のように突飛でふざけたタイトルをつけたりできる。そしてさらに重要なことは、だからこそ『LCD Soundsystem』は優れたダンス・アルバムとして成功しているだけでなく、気の利いた知的な習作にもなっている点だ。（Louis Pattison, Amazon.com）

LCDサウンドシステムのデビュー盤。CD2枚組。 聴いてわかるようにダンスチューンばかり。のっけからダフトパンクがどうたらこうたらという曲。人によっては拒絶反応を示すかも。 ジェイムズ・マーフィーはジャーマンロックが好きらしい。特にCANなど。カンには踊れる曲は少ないが好きな人は徹底的に好きなのだ(私とか)。 そういう予備知識があるとなお楽しめます。クラウトロックに偏見を持つ人もいるかもしれませんがぜひ聴いてください。

エレクトログライド2004のステージングに見せられ購入。
リズムセクションがイイ！特に暴力的なドラムが最高です。
全曲おすすめですが、「daft punk is playing at my house」、
「too much love」、「movement」、「beat connection」を、
特にチェックしてみると、バンドの魅力が理解できるかも。

いつ出るのかと言われ続けてどれだけ待たされた事か。
やっと出たLCD Soundsystemのオフィシャル1stアルバム。
The Raptureなどのプロデュースを手がける「DFA」の１人、James Murphyが作ったこのユニットが
「Losing My Edge」（Disc２－①）でシーンに衝撃を与えたのが2003年の事です。
この極めてシンプルで鋭い切れ味を持った曲は、ビッグ・ビートが飽和してしまったイギリスのクラブ・シーンに大歓迎されました。
そこから、２年。
やっと出てきた作品はオリジナル・アルバムと、シングル盤を集めた編集盤の２枚組。
いや、カッコいいんですよ。
小難しさなんてどこ吹く風のような、パンクでロックでディスコな曲が乱暴に詰まっていて。
オシャレな感じなんて全然しない、男臭いアルバムだと思います。
でもやっぱり、もうちょっとスゴイ物が作れたように思えるんですよね～。
所々やや散漫だったり、逆に単調すぎる部分があるんですよね。
言い換えればそれだけ、私的に期待してるって事でもあるんですけどね。
次はもっとやってくれるはず！というメッセージも込めて☆４つで。

　間違いなく本年度の重要作品！
　間違いだらけの化学兄弟とは訳が違うぜ！！
　1曲目の出だし10秒で解る笑っちゃう位のカッコよさ！
ラプチャー、RADIO4、!!!と言ったロック勢がディスコパンクの名を冠に
アルバムを世に送り出してきましたが、正に真打ち登場と言った感じの
ジェームス・マーフィ率いるLCD。
　しかし満を期してLCDのフルアルバムが最高の内容で傑作！と喜ぶのも
束の間、イマドキCCCDでの発売とはあり得ない！！
当然こっちのUS盤でしょう。

どうもラプチャーの流れから入った人には、このアルバムは不評の様だ。ジェイムズ・マーフィーのミュージック・フリークぶり、その守備範囲の広さが、逆に仇になっている様な感じなのだが、むしろ両者は全く別物と考えた方がいいと思う。新しいのは確か。存外プログレからの影響も。CD1の#2は「新世紀のトッド・ラングレン」的趣もある。 P.S.―タイトルはアーマンド・ヴァン・ヘルデンの言葉「年がら年中ハッピーじゃ、さすがに飽きてくるだろ?」から引用、アレンジさせて貰いました。

　DFAのbrainであるJames Murphyによるソロプロジェクトで、1st album。
　リリースはDFA/EMI。

　2002〜3年辺りからめきめき頭角を現してきたdisco punkのムーブメントの最中のproduce team DFAによる傑作の登場です。
　disco punkといってもny punkやnew wave、funk、electroらへんのエッセンスも勿論盛り込まれていて、このチープなのにgroovyなリズムセクションにはのらずにはいられないですね。

　やはり一番耳に印象的なのはdr.とba.でして、シンプルでループ多用なんですがそれが中毒的に作用して、高揚感を煽るのです。
　でjames氏のテンションヌ高すぎな歌がかなりイニシアティブでもって全体を引っ張り盛り上げていきます。
　感じられるのは汗とかツバとか体臭とか肉とかで、とにかく嫌なこと忘れてノリノリで行こうぜ的なアレですね。

　disc1このリリースのための曲で、disc2は過去に12inchで出された曲たち。
　内容盛りだくさんです。

USのバンドなんだけど、なにかドイツくささも漂う、
不思議なユニットですが、将来的に大ブレイクしそうな
ポテンシャルを秘めているダンスプロジェクトと思います。
以外にシンプルな曲作りでとてもキャッチー、
小手先のテクニックじゃなくて
躍らせるためのポリシーをきっちりこなしてます。
個人的にはクラフトワークのサンプルと思しきものが
大フィーチャーの8.disco infiltratorだけでも買いでしょう。
これはクラブでかかったら、みんな踊りだすんだろうなぁ。
さらにシングルカットのDaftpunk is playing...なんてタイトル!?
などなど、結構聴き所は多いです。

Disco imprescindible para comprender todo el universo DFA, y amar más si es posible todo lo que hace James Murphy. Un gran disco de música electrónica y una lástima que ya no exista LCD. Sus directos eran brutales.

Pretty cool stuff - I would say a definite 5 star in its class. Not the kind of stuff I would listen to every day but still great stuff. Nice beat. I love stuff with a strong heavy beat. I can do some serious dancing to this stuff or blast it while driving, or play it on the drums. This stuff is "in the groove!" It can also be party music--where you want the party to be lively. 2 CDs from 2005. Cool techno sounds woven into the music, too. I could do without the singing, but I won't hold it against the group. Saying the same words over and over again has no purpose, but the beat and techno more than makes up for the mindless verbal blather. (Many people like the verbal blather though.) Many of these songs are of sufficient length, too, again, making them great for listening or dancing. I hate it when I just get on the floor and get moving and the song is over. Fortunately, most DJs will at least mix a couple of songs together. Anyway, as you can see below, many are extended length. There is nothing distinctive I can say about each but they are all really cool and all the same type of music and beat. They bring out the ANIMAL in me! R-O-A-R!!! My son loves the album, too. I loaded it on my PC and ipod so I get to hear it now and then because he keeps "borrowing" my CD. About 100 minutes worth of music total in 16 tracks, so if you have only one CD hole in your car, this one will play for almost 1 ¾ hours without having to change it or listen to repeats. You could work out to this CD, too, if you wanted to. It will keep you moving. If not, check your pulse.

I thought I had the inside goods on what was what in music until I listened to the song "Losing My Edge" on this uber-hip album by LCD Soundsystem. Listening to it, along with all the other tracks, including the now famous "Daft Punk is Playing at My House", feels like I've switched onto a radio show paying reverence to the music of avant garde 1980's New York. This two-CD set is heavily referential, spanning influences from Talking Heads to German dance, Lou Reed to Nitzer Ebb. I gave up trying to find relevance in his references, and instead gave in to the sweet beats and infectious grooves. Murphy really lays down the law with his use of the TR-808 overlayed with acoustic drums - a trippy element, kind of like welding the electronica to the rock using solid gold as a solder. Each song is a stand out on both discs, with no puff-pieces or over-usage of any kind - it's one of those disks I'd put on my "If I was shipwrecked on a desert island...." lists.

I have come to the conclusion that James Murphy is God!!
Its as simple as that.Without doubt he is a musical genius.
Apart from the fact that this double CD has got to be the bargain of the century at just under £5.00,the musical content is breathtaking.You could say that James Murphy is the avante garde of new wave dance music but the sound is also anachronistic and reminds one of the blooming of the dance craze following the demise of the punk era.That is partly its appeal in that it takes you back to that vital new period and surrounds you with a warm glow as you listen to it.
Every track of both CD's has got musical merit.Each is lovingly constructed often exploding into a storming finale that defies belief.Just listen to track yeah (crass version)on the second CD to see what I mean.
This is music to glory in and I defy you not to want to dance when you hear it.There are comparisons to be made no doubt and one of the first that struck me was Nine inch nails(Trent Reznor).To be honest though on second thoughts its a poor comparison because although there are similarities in the style of music and vocal delivery it is vastly inferia in its viscoral attack and intelligence.
Apart from everything else I have mentioned this album is wonderfully produced.If you have a half decent Hi Fi system it will sound amazing.
If you have a very decent Hi Fi it will blow your socks off and anybody who is demonstrating Hi Fi equipment for a living should have this CD at the top of their pile because it will show off the sonic ability of a system to perfection...or the shortfalls come to that!!
Finally can I just mention LCD's new album the sound of silver.It is every bit as good as this but perhaps a slightly more commercial sound without the dark corners and crevasses of this work of genius.But hey it has the same ability to make you want to drag yourself off of your hard worked sofa like no music I have ever known.Buy the two albums together.For just over £10 or the price of two packets of fags you will be in aural heaven!!
