The songs in Onegai my Melody are amazing, the composer and the music team really know how to choose the exact right music styles, melodies, beats and arrangement to capture the specific characteristics of each character in the animation, so that they are never hollow songs but truly are songs that really have clear messages to deliver to listeners.
And this cd single is my favorite single!
The title of the first song is Music Score of the Heart ( what a beautiful and appropriate title!), it is sung by the main character Uta Yumeno. It captures Uta's longing for her beloved Hiiragi perfectly to me. It sends out enthusiastic and optimistic vibes and makes one feel energetic!
I love how the lyrics are written , it is so specific to the story-line, and the voice actress' rendition is so fitting to Uta's pure, unassuming, simple but sincere character. All these have made this song a really personal song of Uta, and not simply another love song which conveys general romantic feelings. Must-buy for fans who ship Uta x Hiiragi ^^
The melody and the lyrics of this song are so good, that they drove me to start learning Japanese in order to fully understand all the songs in this animation! And I am glad I did as the lyrics are so wonderfully written!
The second song sung by the supporting character Miki, the best friend of Uta, is very well executed too, her singing is so beautiful! Miki is the kind of girl who is constantly in a hyper cheerful mood because she is living in her own imaginary poetic world full of happiness that is somewhat detached from the reality and far off the ground. It is really funny to have such kind of joyful and artistic character in this animation! Her song about her own poetic world is not meant to be easily understood by normal human mind, and although I don't understand the meanings of her words (As My Melo's Mama says, her poems has no meanings), I still enjoy her song very much because the voice actress portrays Miki perfectly!
The third and forth soundtrack in this cd single are messages from Uta and Miki respectively, I hope someone can translate to me someday as my Japanese is not sufficient to understand.
As a whole, I feel the songs in this animation truly deserve more recognition! Big big thanks to the composer, lyricist and the whole animation production team!
