Most soldiers (serving and ex) will know that the Guards have a 5 pace drum roll in order to start off the band's music. I was quite surprised to hear two 3 pace drum rolls at the start of every quick March on the cd (?). I'm thinking 'maybe the Pipe Major changed the normal run of things for this cd'. Was this really a recording of the Scots Guards? The army has changed a lot since was a soldier, so maybe the two 3 pace rolls have been adopted by the Guards Pipes and Drum. As traditions in the army really, die hard (if at all), so it seems unlikely that they would have dropped the 5 pace roll. Confusing.
