Erik Mongrain is on par with acoustic artists such as Andy McKee, Michael Hedges, Don Ross, Antoine Dufour, etc. You don't need to appreciate the insane technical expertise in order to enjoy the musicality of the pieces.

Erik is an acoustic guitar genius - I've played this about a gazillion times since I got it a couple of weeks ago. I'd really like to see him playing live (he's got a few videos on his YouTube channel).

The fretless bass (Michael Manring) on a few of the tracks is absolutely divine, too.

I bough this after seeing some of his stuff on youtube, watching him play is really interesting but just listening to the cd I got bored after a couple of tracks, His tapping style, which is fascinating when you watch him play, is pretty restrictive for his songwriting.
