知り合いに薦められて初めて見ました。スゴく内容が惹かれる作品でした。戦争モノでも落ち着いて見れたのは初めてでキャラも可愛いし男のロマンの艦隊やら銃やらも出てくるので完璧なアニメかと個人的に思いました。

海外版だと思って購入したら普通に国内市場向けの商品でした。2期、3期もこのタイプで販売してくれると嬉しいですね。

はじめに，国内版と同様のものが低コストで手に入ると考えているのであれば，購入はやめてください．

・リージョンの関係で，特別なプレイヤーが必要になる可能性あり
・画質はよくない

以下，商品について
〇 DVD版（２枚）とBD版（２枚）が入っていますが，PS4で再生したところ，
・DVD版はリージョンの問題で再生不可
・BD版は再生化可能
でした．
ただ，同時購入した第２期版は，DVD版・BD版ともに再生できたため，ものによる可能性もあります．

〇画質は悪い
　＞ DVD版をBD版に焼いただけのようで，BD版も画質が悪いです．
〇再生場所がわかりにくい
　＞各話数ごとでなく，複数話を１つに繋いだロングムービーなので再生場所がわかりにくい（各話の先頭・Aパート・Bパートなどへのジャンプは可能）
〇包装状態は最悪
　＞箱のビニール部分が硬いものが当たったのか，ボコボコになっていました．（おそらく，保管状態の問題）

以上を踏まえたうえで，購入をご検討ください．
なお，私の評価については，値段を考慮して星４にしました．

期日内に届き損傷もありませんでした。映像も最後までしっかり見ることが良かった(海外使仕様)。字幕も消せました。お話もすっと入ってきてとても面白く一気見しました。感動しました！どうもありがとうございました。

タイトルのとおりです。

まず、映像部分が1080iになっており、絵を止めて見てもSD用の映像をHDに引き伸ばしただけという印象が拭えません。もちろん、何らかのマスターソースからエンコードしたのでしょうが、どう間違っても「HD映像になったから今まで見えていなかった詳細部分がより美しく見えるぞ！」的な感じではありません。というよりも、「元からそんなに詳細に描かれていない」というのが正しいのかもしれません。ただ、そこはやはりBDなのですから、せめて24pにするくらいの頑張りを見せて欲しかったというのが個人的な感想です。

次に音声についてですが、日本語音声トラックのフォーマットは48k16bit2chです。フォーマットがDVDと同じだからといって、そのまま内容まで同じとは限らないのですが、せっかくBDにしたのならせめて24bitくらいはしてもいいのではないでしょうか。これではDVDから何の進化もないじゃないかと感じてしまいます。もしかするとマスター音源がそれしかないのかもしれませんが。英語音声トラックの5.1chについては聴いてもいませんし聴く気もないので割愛します。日本語音声トラックが5.1chだったらそれだけでBDを買う価値があるかもしれないのに。少し残念です。

それと、特典の設定資料本!『第501統合戦闘航空団全記録スペシャル版』ですが、一通り眺めた感じだとDVDに付いてきた資料と内容はほぼ一緒と思われます。これもDVD版とほとんど変わりません。少なくとも「おっ、こんな絵があったのか！改めてBD版を買って良かったなあ」という印象には程遠い感じです。

最後に、ライブのBDですが、まだ見ていません。見ていませんがライブBDにもかかわらず音声部分がPCM2ch48k16bitという、やや首をかしげたくなる微妙なフォーマットです。まあ、オマケだからなのかもしれませんが。あまり期待しすぎると痛い目を見るかもしれません。もちろんライブの内容次第でしょうが。

DVD版を購入したときは「こんなに大サービスしていいのかよ！DVD買ってよかった」という印象しかなかったストライクウィッチーズですが、今回のBD版はそれと間逆の印象と言わざるを得ません。これは、私がDVD版を所持しているのが一番大きな原因でしょう。DVD版からの変化があまりにも少なすぎる為に、こういう印象を受けるのだと思います。よって、DVD版所持者で、特に本編のエンコード品質にこだわる人にはあまりお勧めできないというのが私の結論です。

逆に、今までストライクウィッチーズのDVDを購入していなかった人にとっては、それほど悪い買い物ではないと思います。絵も「汚い」という表現からはかけ離れた、それなりに頑張っている映像ですし、もともとHDをターゲットに作成されていなかった作品であるならば（？）しょうがないと思います。音声もBDという器からすれば多少しょぼいですが、他にもこういう感じの作品は多々あるのでしょう。BDだからといって、過剰な期待はせず、SD系アニメ末期の伝説の作品をコレクションしておこうか的な感覚で買うのがお勧めです。または、ライブ映像目的で買うのもアリでしょう。

Nach langer Zeit habe ich mir nun die erste Season auf Blu-ray bestellt und auch schnell erhalten. Jeder, welcher sie kennt, benötigt keine weitere Beschreibung zur Serie. Andere sollten einfach "googlen".
Viel ist nicht dabei - Hülle, 2 Blu-rays. Zwar ist es ein UK-Import, aber das stört nicht. Die englische Syncho ist ganz angenehm, wobei ich einfach aus Gewohnheit bei Japanisch mit Untertiteln bleibe.
Ich hoffe sehr, dass auch die zweite Season, die Filme sowie die Brave Witches noch irgendwann auf Blu-ray als Uk-Import wieder erhältlich sein werden.

The year is 1944 and the world lives in fear of unidentified flying objects called Neuroi. With the old-boy old guard unable to thwart this deadly menace, humanity turns its desperate eyes to an aerial attack force with much nicer legs. Meet the girls of the 501st Joint Fighter Wing, better known as the Strike Witches. These darlings of the great blue yonder may not have standard issue uniforms, but they do have the right stuff. Where the average flyboy falters, these dolls blast aliens to bits in the bat of an eyelash. With a little magic and a whole lot of leg, the girls of the 501st are winning the war on pants, and aliens!

Now here's an interesting premise for an anime. It's got cute girls, aliens, panties, magic. What more can I say for my opening paragraph? Oh, the DVD's are generally uncensored, so it's an ecchi anime, don't like then you might not enjoy this one.

The story starts in the year 1939, A mysterious Black cloud appeared in the sky, Aircraft were sent to get rid of the black cloud, but soon after they attack a mysterious black aircraft emerged from the darkness and fired lasers to wipe the fleet out, this is where the battle with the Neuroi began. In order to combat the Neuroi threat, man worked to make a new weapon, this weapon was known as the Striker Unit, a special set of plane engines powered by magic one wears on their feet and legs. A call went out to all the nations of the world to recruit witches with the potential to weild these Strikers, thus the 501st Joint fighter wing was formed. Now we meet Yoshika Miyafuji, a middle school girl from the Fuso Empire, she soon finds herself being recruited by the Strike Witches, of which she refuses as she hates war. That is until she receives a letter from her supposedly dead father, Dr Miyafuji, the inventor of the Striker unit. She goes with them to find out if her father really died. I'll leave it at that for now.

The art style is pretty standard for the character models, they are pretty cute in this respect, where the anime seems to excel is the designs of the weapons and striker unit, modelled on actual World war aircraft and weapons. There are one or 2 instances of which small attempts at 3D are trying during flight, which works I felt.

The soundtrack is appropriate considering the themes, war time band fair and orchestral songs as well as more cutesy music. Some is memorable while some isn't as much. The Opening and Ending themes "To do what I can" and "Bookmark ahead" are cute but don't feel different or unfitting. But then I have heard the songs over and over through my headphones from a dual album. The dub now I'm sure some of you are curious to know about. Considering the reputation Funimation seems to have for dubbing from the fan sub group, the voice work is not bad at all, no voices grated on me but a need to adjust to the voices might be needed, but as per usual the original Japanese voice work is included.

Now for the DVD's, for a fan like me, the DVD cases are lovely, featuring art of 8 of the 11 Witches spread out over the 2 covers, the cover case that keeps the DVD's together has a synppsis on the back featuring Shirley and Lucchini (Characters not included on the DVD cases) and some screen caps, which are pretty sweet. Whilst Miyafuji completes the set on the front of the case. The DVD's themselves feature different art of Miyafuji.

The contents on each disk are:
Disk 1 - The first 6 episodes and the option of voice work
Disk 2 - The final 6 episodes, the voice work option and Trailers from Funimation

Not much on the disks, bare bones stuff but I can give it a pass

Overall, Strike Witches is a series of fan service to both the otaku crowd and the aviation fans, the story might seem unfocused till the final few episodes but most episodes have character development, Art isn't going to win any awards but it's very cute. A soundtrack that is fitting and a pretty good dub to accompany it.

It's a personal favourite of mine, so if it sounds like your kind of thing then I implore you give it a go .

Many reviews stated you will love or hate strike witches though many mention its story wasnt to impressive
I purchased this on a whim and watched through it and i must say it is much better than i imagined.
The story is quite well played through, Humans are at war with a race (Nuroi or something) and was loosing quite drastically, that was until a certain someone invented the 'Striker Unit' (leave name out, its not much of a spoiler but its a tiny one). With this Striker unit a team of elite soliders battle the enemy on the front line (in the skies) to protect Britania which has already suffered great loss to this enemy. As Earth's only remaining weapon this squad 'The Strike Witches' have to keep on high alert, but this doesnt mean there isnt time for fun aswell. The anime is full of great fun scenes which arnt so story based but are quite enjoyable and have lots of laughs with them but because they know how to play doesnt mean there not serious at there job! They train tough and battle for there own reasons, this means the story as you guess is quite solid... each character has a small story to them and wether they fight becase they want to save people or to avenge someone there quite serious... thats all but they lack... lower body clothing, no skirt's no jean's/tights/trousers/leg wear, this is the strike witches
Its actually halerious, but i personaily found the story very good, im not one for war stories so the future type style (dispite past settings) was enjoyable and the whole war its self just made me loose track of how many episodes i watched until i relised i was done, both my brother and sister also found the show very enjoyable
I gave it 5 stars as not only is it real funny and very interesting for a story, its animation is very smooth and very well done with enjoyable artwork aswell as the soundtrack op/ed are also enjoyable as the soundtrack as a whole.
It's a watch most should enjoy
i will warn it contains a few fan service scenes but this isnt blown out of proportion, episode 7 is mainly where it will be scene otherwise its just a small 1min clip here or there which features such which isnt to bad
