アジアンボーカリストの実力

永い間ジャーニーの音楽を聴いていなかったのでボーカリストがアジア人とは知らずに面食らったが聴いているうちにその実力に驚いた。
当時はまだまだ粗削りな面も多々あったがダイヤの原石の感がある。
ニール・ショーンをはじめとしたメンバーの実力はまったく衰えていない。脅威である。

2017年3月の視点でLIVE IN MANILAを振り返ってのレビューです。先日（2017年2月）の来日公演ではドラムのディーンに変わって、スティーブスミスが復帰しました。ジャズ＆ロック界のトップドラマーの演奏は完璧でしたが、見てはっきりわかる省エネ奏法で、もう昔のスティーブ"マシンガン"スミスじゃないんだなと寂しかったのも事実です。その視点でこのライブを見ると、アーネルと共にジャーニーを若返らせたディーンの素晴らしさが際立ちます。ロックバンドのドラマーはこうでなくちゃ、という見本のような、ビジュアル的にも演奏面でも曲に勢いを与えるプレイ。そしてアーネルは今より声が出ている。スティーブペリーとは違うけど（当たり前）、良いボーカリストです。現在はライブで数曲サポートの人が歌っていて、全曲歌うのはきついんだろうなと察します。なんとか頑張って、ジャーニーのボーカルを続けて欲しいです。曲の面では、個人的に一番好きなAsk The Lonely（なんで今回の武道館でやらなかった？）、ニールショーンが弾きまくりのEdge of The Blade等が熱くて素晴らしい。

勿論、アーネルのVoもいいのですが、ドラムのディーンの歌声が素晴らしいのです！特に「Still They Ride」鳥肌物です！スティーブ・ペリーバージョンのライブよりこの曲に合ってると思いました！他に「Keep On Runnin"」「Mother Father」もディーンの歌声。ドラムをやりながらの歌声にジャーニーの曲により一層、新たな解釈が見つかったと思います。以前バーンのインタビューにニール・ショーンに見つけて貰った事への感謝が載っていましたが、バッドイングリッシュ以降もニールと頑張っているディーンの姿に涙腺が緩みます・・・

ボーカルがいいです。ほんとに上手い。スティーブペリーより上手いと思います。高音も良くでる。演奏もしっかり
さすがです。じゃあなんで☆四つ？。はっきりいいます。スティーブペリーの若い時が恋しい。絶頂期の彼のボーカルのこのライブがみたい。

スティーブペリーが脱けても、十分魅力的。
このDVDは、新しいボーカリスト、アーネルピネダの表現力を、十分表している。
ちなみに、3月のジャパンツアーも最高に盛り上がった。

新ボーカル確かにスティーブペリーを彷彿させます、バラード曲をしっかり聞かせる歌い方が弱いかなと感じました。新ボーカルとドラムがベテラングループに勢いを与え、ジャーニーを若返らせてます。新ドラマーが三曲ほどメインボーカルを取ってますが、これがとても良いんですが今は交代したとか書き込みを見ました、本当なら残念です。^_^

The DVD is almost 3 hours long and well worth watching. The 2 CD's are very interesting. Although Arnel sings on both discs they are of him doing all the songs on the video but are put on 2 CD's if you do not feel like watching the video. Arnel and the band are Arnel's hometown of Manila and the bands just totally rocks. If you are a a Journey fan then this is well worth buying

Hey guys being a fan of Journey for last 10 years....listening to their audios and few videos specially "Live in Manila" has take me for a heaven ride......Wow what a classic band formed with Steve Perry in 1977 and still alive with his newly discovered lead singer
Arneld Pineda what a Voice love his vocal....to the top notch

Never believed a simple guy from Third world can make the Journey continue for ever in the faith of all band member's he is the best singer ever could journey find in the history.This concert contain good numbers of classic hits and few new songs form latest albums

This Blu-ray productions contains Top Notch Video quality filmed with 4K RED technology and standard Audio quality with decent 2.0 LPCM uncompressed and 5.1 DTS-HD master audio. The audio channel separation is perfect for all the channel but the vocal suffers for most of the songs with bad sound balancing by Sound engineer at the event.

I would recommend this concert for all the definite fans of Journey and for all other music lovers they can give a try....

LOVE YOU ALL THE BAND MEMBERS OF JOURNEY......

Waiting for Journey to perform in INDIA......

Amazing show!
The main surprise for many must be the fact that this is the awaited performance of the band with its new frontman Arnel Pineda and in front of an audience of his countrymen since he was born In Phillipines. Well, what a debut, this guy sings incredibly. Comparisons are always unfair and hard but let's say that if you like me loved all this classic songs but tended to get tired of the excessive vocal approach of Steve Perry (live in Houston 1981), this will be no problem here, this little guy reaches the high keys but understands perfectly when to sing and when to remain silent. The classic tunes are sung and played with all detail and the new ones are great songs too. My fear of the absence of some classics (covered on 2001 DVD) for example 'Who's crying now' or 'Send her my love' vanished the moment I freed myself from any preconceptions and sat down to enjoy this show. Please note the extremely great performance of singing drummer Deen Castronvo. I mean OK, one thing is doing great backing vocals but another is singing lead vocals in the perfect key while playing drums all along the song. Mother, Father was an example of this. The rest of the band as usual, impeccable and having great fun. J. Cain playing some classical arrangement (from his own album I guess) and Neil Schon as usual in charge of the rougher edge with his playing.
Make no mistake this is not a band shooting their last bullets, it seems more like a new breath of fresh air and Mr. Pineda has a lot of credit on all this. A true classic american rock band.
