A great product to compliment my large Osprey Falcon rucksack that I have used for many years. Unfortunately the waist buckle broke after only a few uses, but I have just contacted Osprey support who I hope will send out a replacement buckle.
Full featured pack for sure. Extremely comfortable. I bought the 22 liter one, and it barely feels like I'm wearing it. The material is a bit thin, so you wouldn't want to use it to store your school books, but that's expected for this type of backpack. It's got a lot of really great features, none of which really add much weight to it, including:
* Ice pick/trekking poll storage * Generously sized side pockets * Helment attachment * Supports big water bladders * Fully adjustable * A whistle! Yes, really! I owned this for about a month until I realized it had it. It's on the buckle for the chest strap. * Fully adjustable in more ways than I can count.
I'll admit that part of me bought this bag because I've played a lot of DayZ (a survival video game) and the Taloon backpack in the game is modeled after it, but I mostly bought it for the trusted name, great features, and lifetime warranty. If I ever do anything more than day-hiking, I'll definitely be buying the bigger versions. I've recommended this bag to all my friends (even female friends - there's a female version of this backpack called the Tempest).
I'm 6ft tall and 175lbs. I got the M/L size and it fits perfectly. This is my "go to" backpack for all of my athletic needs. This includes mainly hiking and mountain biking. It has a comfortable waist belt with pockets, an adjustable torso length (this feature is the main reason I prefer the Talon 22 to the Osprey Raptor hydration pack), an ingenius helmet attachment clip that keeps the helmet snug to the backpack, a super handy external stretch pouch, a hydration pack compartment, and enough room to carry what I need for the day. It's also very lightweight compared to my typical school bag style backpack. The waist belt may not be as extravagant as waist belts found on the larger hiking backpacks, but they are wide, soft, and they do help keep the full weight of the pack off my back.
The only downside? I wish the stretchy external pocket was made of a sturdier fabric. The fabric they used is so thin that it's ALMOST transparent and it can snag onto things fairly easily. Not a big deal, just a minor gripe.
This is a great day pack. This pack may not fit shorter people as well as someone 5'9" and up to 6'4". It has side pockets for two bottles of water. The waist strap will not fit someone with a larger waist, however the waist strap is not needed on day hikes. The chest strap is adjustable up or down for comfort. The shoulder straps are very comfortable. It is cool on the back and light weight. It will hold a great deal of gear. This pack can handle winter hiking when you need to carry more gear or clothing.
This is the best day pack ever made. I use it with and without the bladder and find it just the right size for a day hike, grocery trip, or one nighter in warm weather. The strap pocket fits a cell phone and the trekking pole loops are simple and quick to use. I am 5'11" with a faily long torso and found the medium size to be perfect. The hip belt pockets are very accessible and have lots of room. I keep a camera and mini tripod in one and snacks in the other.
