Tokio's epic adventure starts here

Cyberconnect2 finally decided to continue the .hack story after the events of G.U. and takes place two years after those events. The manga follows Tokio who is a genius gamer and can beat anything. He has been dying to play the new incarnation of the "The World", but misses the sign up for access. Saika then comes into the picture as an exchange student who gives him a black label copy of "The World R:X". He decides to instantly jump into the game, but nothing is as it seems.
Really awesome to see some familiar faces in these issue and they get the personalities right. As I've said CC2 is creating the story, so we will be able to have spot on characteristics of our favorite dot hackers. I really loved that they even gave some back story on the people and those who have been following dot hack for this long will recognize and remember the events they show.
The artist that drew this series is the same one from .hack//XXXX and the character design for the link game. Just like x-fourth, this series has perfect rendition of the characters looks and mannerisms. Also get to see some more awesome moves that appeared in x-fourth at the end. He even yells out the abilities like before; which is always a nice nod to the original games.
At the start of the manga they have a few colored pages; which include the first few parts of the story and the introduction to Link. Some other extras include some scenes at the end of the issue and afterword's from the creators. Not really sure why but they added some fan service panels into the manga. I know .hack has had some minor parts like that, but it just feels forced in this series.
Verdict:
This is definitely worth a purchase and I enjoyed reading through this manga for two reasons; one for the fact we finally get some post G.U. content that continues the franchise and two we get to see some familiar faces back into the series and actually get to see what might have happened to them since their debut. The story is very dot hacky (a good thing), I love the artist creating the same look as the games did and it's as close as we are going to get to the Link ark of the Dot Hack franchise.
~ Written: 07-12
Positive:
* Continues the .hack storyline and made by the creators CC2
* The characters have the same personality as before with cool
backstory nods
* Artist continues making the characters look just like the games
Negative:
* Forced on "fan-service" that isn't really needed

Fantastic manga!

Fantastic to read and really funny, my only problem (and its not with the book) is that there are only 3 books in total of .hack//LINK because the 4th book was never written and at the end of the 3rd book it sort of leaves you with so many questions. Apart from this i recommend them highly as i do all the .hack books.
