商品の説明
2012 album from the NY Hardcore band. The album features 11 energetic new anthems, culminating influence from all eras of Vision of Disorder's infamous discography, 'The Cursed Remain Cursed has been under construction for nearly four years. We did what we did because WE loved it, not because we thought others might,' says the members of VOD. 'Twenty years later we are, once again, at work with the same approach.' Innovative and widely-admired, Vision of Disorder pioneered the collision between hardcore and metal. Since their formation in 1992, Vision of Disorder has sold over 250,000 albums in the United States. "We feel we accomplished a very unique, vicious and exciting record without compromising the VOD brand of hardcore yet, says guitarist Mike Kennedy. "The Cursed Remain Cursed sounds like nothing we've ever done." Vocalist Tim Williams adds, the songs are raw, real and from the heart."

Taken as a whole, this record feels like a more focused Imprint. A little less unhinged and raw as Imprint, but still crafted meticulously and inflected with a brutatily which rewards careful listening.
What I find wonderful about this record is the dynamics involved in the song structure. Not only is the traditional verse/chorus/verse/bridge/chorus/chorus forumula eschewed for a more erratic structure, but the way the band empolys each members skills during the song is ingenuitive and impressive.
In "The Seventh Circle" for instance, the guitar incorporates a down tuned, down picked passage during Tim William's vocals during the first measure, only to fall out and give the drum patterns a moment to carry the second measure, and then come back in w/ disturbing ear candy throughout the rest of the verse. During the opening vocal delivery of "Blood Red Sun," a guttural, otherworldy miasma bursts forth over and under the vocals to give the listener a feeling of hell bursting forth.
While trying to describe these dynamics is difficult, the above mentioned examples are just the tip of the iceberg for a band who is at the top of their craft. The overall feel of this record is one of despair, but oddly enough, has a maturity that I don't think would have been possible for this band in the late 1990's. It is almost like VOD had to create "From Bliss to Devastation" to come back around to this record. And while the FBTD era songwriting style is buried in this record on some sections, you have to dig to find it.
Lyrically, Tim Williams really shines. The songs are desolate and lack hope. While most serious thinkers in this genre have a tendency to find the positive in their respective sufferings, Mr. Williams take this process further and beats the listener down w/ depressive subject matter that truly does not provide an escape route. I am left afterwards with a sad and pessimistic view of society as a whole, but it doesn't feel any less true despite the results.
Overall, this record rewards repeated listens. 5 stars.

I AS MOST AM ALWAYS SCEPTICAL OF HYPE...BUT THIS DOES LIVE UP TO IT...I HAVE HAD THIS A DAY AND NOT ONE TRACK IS FLAT OR LACKS THE VIBE THAT THIS MUSIC NEEDS TO GET THE LISTENERS ATTENTION...LIKE I STATED BEFORE...I HAVE NEVER WROTE A REVIEW....BUT FOR WHATEVER REASON YOU LIKE AMERICAN HARDCORE/ CROSSOVER METAL...U WILL GET YOUR FEAST OUT OF THIS RELEASE...I WOULD LIKE TO PERSONALLY CONGRATULATE VOD ON A VERY FINE RELEASE AND WISH THEM ALL THE BEST....I HOPE THIS HELPS MAKE UP A FEW MINDS..
